Melon Mobile (formerly WebGate) Wins Two Handango Champion Awards 2009
Handango, the world's leading provider of multi-platform smartphone apps, named Melon Mobile (formerly WebGate) a recipient of the prestigious Handango Champion Awards. The Champion Awards recognize the most outstanding mobile apps and developers for a number of mobile platforms.
Winning the Champion Award for Best Personal Organization App with Safe Deposit Box and Best Email/Messaging App with Advanced Blocker, Melon Mobile (formerly WebGate) exhibits a level of quality in developing for the Symbian S60 platform. With this year's success Melon Mobile (formerly WebGate) continues its tradition of excellence. The company was also honored by Handango in 2005 and then in 2006 when WebGate won the Best Application for Life awards with Advanced Call Manager.
Six of Melon Mobile's (formerly WebGate) best-selling applications were nominated for Application of the Year 2009 in four categories and WebGate itself was nominated for 2009 Developer of the Year.
This year, for the first time in the history of the Champion Awards, consumers at large were invited to vote on the winning applications. "This year, we wanted to give consumers the opportunity to vote for their favorite apps," said Alex Bloom, CEO of Handango. "It is a great honor to recognize the leading developers in this space, as well as congratulate the masterminds behind some of the most creative, cutting-edge applications in this continuously evolving marketplace."
